Has anyone see this?

Does this mean we can hope for a replicant build based on mainline for the i9300?

Porting the mainline kernel to Replicant-supported devices is a task that is currently being evaluated and that the project can probably invest on, depending on developers availability and the decided priority of funding allocation.
Just a few references from the wiki, for instance: Tasks_funding, Upstream, Google_Summer_of_Code_2018
