N7000 Development
Added by LEE WEI PEOW about 5 years ago
Hi Replicant!
I'm a unofficial LOS builder for n7000 on xda, with basic to no knowledge on Linux kernel development.
I see that the n7000 is not updated since Replicant 6.0, I wondered if there's any progress for n7000.
I an interested to work on bringing Mainline linux support to n7000 but I have no direction yet. I wondered if I could help in bringing Mainline linux to n7000 with the help of Replicant developers.
Thanks and have a nice day!

Hello Lee Wei Peow!
Welcome to Replicant's redmine! We're glad you are here and want to collaborate with us.
Our most recent images for the N7000 are here: https://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/replicant/images/replicant-6.0/0004-rc1/
I am not aware of any efforts to mainline the N7000, which would be a requirement for us to support the N7000 in our effort to add devices to our upcoming Replicant 10 release. You can read more about Replicant's kernel and bootloader upstreaming efforts here: https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/Upstream
Here are some links related to the work that is being done to add support in the upstream kernel for a samsung smartphone that has the same SoC as the N7000 here, the i9100:

https://github.com/yurnam/i9100_kernel_mainline_port
https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_SII_(samsung-i9100)
The n7000 would also need u-boot support for it to get included in Replicant 10.
We have some links related to i9100 u-boot work that has been done downstream here: https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/Upstream#Bootloader-status
My assumption is that this i9100 upstream work could be used to help add support for the n7000, but we don't have anyone on our team looking into this at the moment. Please take some time to look through this documentation and, after you have familiarized yourself with the landscape, let us know if you'd like to try to contribute to this effort. Also, if you haven't introduced yourself on the #Replicant irc on freenode, please do.
In Solidarity,
Kurtis
