Nextbit Robin (backed by very open minded company)
Added by Anonymous over 8 years ago
Would it be possible to evaluate this phone for Replicant support? It is a device that came to existence via a community fund raising.
The company behind it is very open minded. I think they would definitely be up for getting Replicant to work on the device. The only thing that could hold them back is third-party hardware agreements and legal limitations.
The source code of their operating system and kernel are available for download:

It is a 2016 released device, they already have CyanogenMod support:
Kernel: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_nextbit_msm8992
Device: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_nextbit_ether
And OmniROM support:
Kernel: https://github.com/omnirom/android_kernel_nextbit_msm8992
Device: https://github.com/omnirom/android_device_nextbit_ether
It should also not be a problem to contact the Nextbit staff and receive answers on any questions, they are welcoming new rom support.

I guessed that it is a bad target.
