Added by Tom Lukeywood almost 10 years ago
as currently no device supports wifi with replicant
i was wondering if you could just use a external usb dongle to access wifi
such as this one:

Not at the moment, Android is not designed for plug-n-play on Wi-Fi devices. In addition, some changes are usually required to Wi-Fi drivers for them to work properly with Android.

Even if its not plug and play dose android have a way to communicate with the usb device at all while running?

If you mean this globally, then:
"Android 3.1 introduced USB host mode which allows the user to plug USB devices to your Android tablet in the same way as a Desktop PC and extend its functionality (if the tablet has the correct drivers of course)."

Probably this app: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=aws.apps.usbDeviceEnumerator
and / or USB OTG: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/clever-adapter-connects-usb-accessories-to-your-android-device/
optionally combined with an app like this: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=com.morlunk.mountie
could help you to find the right track to investigate on.
Hope this helps a bit, even it's a little out of the wifi scope.
