VLC on replicant devices
Added by Jacob Bahn about 7 years ago
In this thread: https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/9/topics/14737 OP apparently has VLC installed on a replicated device.
Does that work well, and if so, what would it take to have it added to F-droid?

Hi,
F-droid keeps VLC in the "archive" repository, which is not enabled by default.
To install VLC you need to enable that repository in F-droid > Settings > Repositories.
Keep in mind that VLC is not in the main repository because the F-droid team hasn't been able to build it from source for a while.
I don't know if that issue was solved, but I guess not, because VLC is still not in the main repo.
So, I honestly can't tell if the version on "F-droid archive" is built from source or is just a binary copy.
Please, verify that before installing VLC if you're concerned about security/clarity. You can find furthe information on the F-droid site.
Apart from that, VLC should work just fine on any device running Replicant.
