News about the project is available in the [http://replicant.us Replicant website]. You are currently in the Wiki section, which is the user edited section - feel free to contribute by creating an account and editing pages now!
When making edits, please bear in mind that we are a [http://www.fsf.org/about/what-is-free-software FREE SOFTWARE] project.
Current PhonesWe are currently focusing on HTC Dream and Nexus One, for several reasons:
* Both phones have versions that permit the user to become root or superuser: [wiki:root_status only a few devices] offer root access, or a mechanism that permits the user to become root. (If you know of another android device that allows root access by default please let us know on irc or the mailing list.)
* They are well supported in the AOSP, that is to say, part of the hardware libraries are released under a Free Software license
* The replicant developers have either the Nexus One, HTC Dream, or both.
Note that the [http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/27/pour-one-out-t-mobile-g1-no-longer-for-sale/ T-Mobile G1 is no longer for sale] so our default device will become the Nexus One.
Also note that if you have a device that is not a Nexus One or an HTC Dream, adding support for it may be possible, especially if your phone is very similar to a supported one or if you have source code for the hardware libraries.

Replicant Software Center - a libre market applicationReplicant Software Center is a fully free software market application to download and manage free software apps on Replicant.
We are using the [http://f-droid.org/ F-Droid client]. You can also download a compiled libre apk [http://f-droid.org/repo/FDroid_0.11.apk here].
By default it downloads libre apps from its own repository. We are working together with our friend Ciaran, the main F-Droid developer, on a Replicant repository.
Previously Graziano had its own repository for testing purposes: http://sorbaioli.org/repo
We are focusing now on merging these efforts.
