* Boot a modem with a SIM
* Take away the SIM card
* Go to a protest with only the SIM card and a phone with no data on it to be able to call if necessary.

h3. Galaxy SIII (GT-I9300)

The tests weren't conclusive as after some relatively small amount of time (few minutes?) the modem managed to understand that the SIM card was gone.

I did the test long ago and don't remember how much traffic there was and the nature of the traffic between the modem and the SIM.
